“December 6, 2011 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and marks the 22nd anniversary of the Montréal Massacre, in which 14 women were singled out and murdered at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal because they were women”.

December 6 is an opportunity for all of us , men and women, to reflect on the tragedy of the Montréal Massacre and to reach out to all families whose lives have been taken away by acts of violence.

Re-membering is a way of generating collaborative efforts to increase self- awareness and social consciousness in our country. We must continue advocating for fair, equitable and respectful treatment of all people; we must speak up against the intolerable acts of violence against women and girls; we must provide services for men and boys who practice violence and abuse.  We need to get together to bring peace to families and increase awareness in every actions we take.
